There is plenty of talk at the moment that we should be teaching financial literacy in schools.
It sounds great in theory, but lets take a moment and think of the teachers.
Teachers are under so much pressure at the moment. Paperwork, lesson plans, regulation, dealing with parents and professional development is leading to a teaching workforce that is highly stressed, burnt out and extremely time poor.
Anyone who thinks teaching is easy because you work only 9am to 3:30pm and have eleven weeks off have rocks in their head!
So with teachers well beyond their maximum capacity and a curriculum that is choc-a-block, how do we teach financial literacy in schools?
I believe there is one key element we need to focus on – I’m keen to hear your thoughts as well.
